Turkey Trip Date 112507 - What Not

After I made the travel reservations with plenty of time between plane and train and vice versus for delays, sightseeing and what not, Jen C volunteered to be our 'what not'. As we took the train in we received our instructions, "1:30 pm - Rendezvous at the large Christmas tree in Daley Plaza. Await further instructions there." The message then self destructed in a couple of sparks and a wisp of smoke. Our train arrived at 12:30, and from Union Station we zigzagged across blocks to the destination, making sure we were not followed. At 1:29 pm we reached the plaza and set a holding point betwixt the 100 ft Christmas tree and a line of horse carriages. At 1:30pm agent JenC made contact... and then we went shopping at the Christkindlmarket. It was perfectly good idea, especially for Sinziana and her desire for knick knacks. But first we had some hot spiced wine, and we got a commemorative drinking mug out of it. Of course Sinzi found a pair of Russian dolls, so that's our keepsake for the trip.

After the shopping mission was successful, we embarked on a follow-up mission: Get Italian food. After the first venue ended up being close, and as the rain began to fall we made it to Italian Village, which is the oldest Italian restaurant in Chicago (80 yrs) and its interior is painted to looked like, guess what, an Italian Village (similar to Las Vegas' Venetian Hotel {sans working canal}, who probably copied them). I recommend the cannelloni.
Fed and rested, we made for the subway and O'Hare, and finally, as Sinzi says, "homey home."
